Did you know August is National Wellness Month?  At any age, living a healthy lifestyle promotes good habits and has been proven to help you live longer. Morrow Manor wants to share 5 ways you can recognize National Wellness Month that are easy to share with your loved ones at our facility, too!

  1. Drink More Water!

We all know that water is necessary for your overall health and bodily function, but do you know how much is recommended for you to drink each day? The U.S. National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine recommend that men drink 3.7 liters per day, and women 2.7. That may seem like a lot, but water makes up up to 70% of your body weight and is the key component that allows you to regulate body temperature, get rid of waste, and protect tissue from damage.

  1. Try out meditation!

Meditation has long been associated with yoga and spirituality, and there is good reason it has been practiced for thousands of years. This simple practice is proven to reduce stress by relaxing the breathing, increasing patience and self-awareness, and even improving insomnia when done correctly. 1. Better your sleeping habits!

We typically spend a third of our time sleeping each day (229,961 average hours over a lifetime), so it’s obvious that getting a good night’s sleep is crucial to functioning at our full potential. If possible, use a sleep monitoring app or smart bracelet to track your sleep habits for disruptions, sleep apnea, and other issues.

  1. Incorporate superfoods!

Superfoods have high nutritional density, meaning your body greatly benefits from an average serving at mealtime. With vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants in big proportions, foods like berries, leafy greens, turmeric, and various teas can really boost your health!
