March is an important month in the Christian faith, and we’d like to take a moment to explain how we at Morrow Manor are able to help and accommodate our religious residents. While Lent began in mid-February this year, the season of course extends throughout this month and until Easter Sunday on April 4th.
As you may know, many Christians follow certain guidelines set for themselves throughout Lent. Some will choose to sacrifice something they love doing, just as they believe Jesus sacrificed himself for humanity with his crucifixion. Others choose to take on a positive task into their daily routines, such as offering help to others. We understand the seriousness of Lent and are ready to accommodate our residents’ wishes in terms of personal tasks and dietary restrictions (many will abstain from eating meat on Fridays during the season).
At the end of the month begins Holy Week, a crucial time of reflection, solemnity, and remembrance. Palm Sunday is marked on our activities calendar, and all interested residents can watch gospel TV and Christian radio weekly. We also offer nondenominational church services on Sundays and Wednesdays, so we will likely be having special services at our nursing home, although residents are also welcomed to attend their own community churches.
On a regular basis we also provide devotions and hymns, typically on Wednesdays. With a different theme each week it’s easy to customize these programs to incorporate Lenten themes. We encourage you to take a look at our activities calendar to see more details about our weekly religious services, and contact us if you have any questions regarding accommodations: 419-768-2401.
